All I can say is that I appreciate this video clip from Family Guy much more than I ever did before.

I am about to head out with some of the other professors to sip some whiskey for a couple of hours. It’s been a while, and I’m getting the urge. So, instead of some well-thought out piece of prose, or even a poorly thought out piece of prose, I will instead post a video here that will hopefully make you laugh as much as it did me. Enjoy!

And for those of you who aren’t familiar with SMBC Theater, it’s basically sketch comedy videos by the guy who does Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, which is a web comic that has been known to produce such gems as this one:

Good times. You don’t want to be sharing these comics with your kids or anything, and they can be a bit warped and demented at times, but if that’s your kind of humor then be sure to check them out. Now, Whiskey Time!

So, I saw this link today, and suddenly so many strange things that people do regarding birth don’t seem so bad.

Afterbirth: It’s What’s For Dinner

Now, ordinarily I’d scoff at this, but this article was in TIME. Well, on TIME’s website anyhow. Not something I was expecting. The writer was actually quite humorous about the whole thing, which again I wasn’t expecting from TIME. The video, though, put the icing on the cake.

I’d like to know whether or not the benefits of eating placenta are real or a load of crap, but I have a feeling you’d have a hard time trying to get a random test sampling of people to do a real study. How do you even approach someone about something like this?

“Hi, I see you’re pregnant! Congratulations, that’s excellent news. I was wondering if you’d like to participate in a medical study relating to the birth of your baby.”

“What kind of study?”

“Well, we are researching the possible positive mental and physical health benefits of post-birth ingestion of symbiotic material.”

“Sounds interesting. What do I have to do?”

“Well, basically you have to eat your placenta.”

“I’m calling the police.”
