So today’s post is going to be on the short side for a few reasons. First, I spent about 2 hours going through my software, trying to edit a video file and it just wouldn’t work. Then I put it back on the camera and edited it there. Talk about a waste of effort…
Second, I was at work again today, so I wasn’t with my girls for most of the day, which leaves me with less than usual to write about. Third, Sara was in charge of the camera today, and only snapped a couple of pictures and one exceedingly long video that I had to cut down a bit. Here’s the “Emi Presley” picture that Sara took of our little girl today.

Sara tried her hand at bathing Emi for the first time today, and by all accounts it went quite a bit better than when I tried yesterday. Sara seems to have an easier time with handling Emi when it comes to fine movements and such, and I think it’s because she’s less nervous about it. Every time I pick up little Emi-chan, I worry that this will be the time that I drop her. Everyone says she is a big baby, but I can’t imagine her being any smaller. Her little head fits inside the space of my palm. Not the palm of my hand, which would include my fingers, but literally within the span of my palm itself. She’s so delicate that I’m perhaps overly cautious with her, which leads to a little more awkwardness in movement and things taking me a little longer than they do other people. Still, I’ve been doing ok so far, so that’s a big plus.
Emi went up 60 grams since yesterday, so it looks like we’re coming out of the woods and we won’t need to use much in the way of supplemental feeding. Sara’s been producing more and more every day and is almost up to her top capacity which is great. It means that neither of my ladies are getting much sleep right now, but hopefully things will normalize a bit in the coming days.
So, as I mentioned, Sara had recorded a video of Emi this afternoon. Check it out.
My little girl doesn’t like having the hiccups very much, as you can see by the look on her face. Then, about halfway through, she gets a little surprise, and you can see her look really sour. I know that posting this video might lead to years of therapy somewhere down the road, but I just love how expressive her little face can be at times. She conveys emotions on her face that you wouldn’t think she’d have at just 5 days old. Just one of the many things I love about Emiko. I’d list some others here, but I’m trying for brevity this time out.
Tomorrow Sara will have her physical check up by the doctors, and if everything goes well, she and Emi will be coming home on Wednesday, just in time for Sara’s mom and sister to arrive. Everything has been progressing very well, so hopefully that trend will continue tomorrow so I can have my family all together here at home. The scheduling has been tough with having to stop at the hospital for a few minutes on my way into work, then working all day and only seeing them for a couple of hours at night before I have to head home and take care of the animals. I’m sure Ein and Maja will be glad to have Sara home as well. As far as Emi goes, we’ll have to wait and see.
And with that, I think it’s time to call it a night. I still have to take Ein out for his business trip before I can get some sleep, so I’d better get to it. I’ll write more tomorrow when I get the chance. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a quick picture I took today of my new favorite pastime: N.O.D. – Napping On Daddy.

Good night, all, and thanks for continuing to check in. Sweet Dreams, Emi. Daddy loves you.
